JIS G3113 Structural Automobile Hot Rolled SAPH310 Steel

What is SAPH310 Steels? SAPH310 steel is a structural Hot Rolled steel in the form of plates, sheets & strips for automobile structural usages. SAPH310 is a material grade and designation defined in JIS G 3113 standard. JIS G 3113 is a Japanese material standard for Hot Rolled steel plates, sheets, strips for automobile structural usage. The structural quality Hot Rolled steel is a type of steel that is utilized in automobile body construction material. When a material grade is designated as hot rolled steel, it determines it has been objected to a scheming process of hot rolling in which a metal bar is handed through high tension rollers exceeding the re-crystallization temperature of the input metallic material.

Dimensional Characteristics of SAPH310 Steels: The applicable thickness for this SAPH310 material as defined in the JIS G3113 starts from 2 mm to 14 mm. However the width of SAPH310 material ranges to 950 to 2000 mm.

The Chemical Composition of SAPH310 Steels: JIS G3113 defines the chemical composition of SAPH310 steels as under:

Carbon (C) is not identified in the standard.

Manganese (Mn) is not identified in the standard.

Maximum percentage of Phosphorous (P) is 0.040 percent.

Maximum percentage of Sulphur (S) is 0.040 percent.

Remaining is iron (Fe) percentage and with few negligible impurities.

Mechanical Properties of SAPH310 Steels: The tensile strength of the SAPH310 Steels is expressed in Newton per millimeters and it must be at-least 310 N/mm2 (MPa). The yield strength is minimum 175 to minimum 185 N/mm2 (MPa) depending on the thickness. The elongation property of SAPH310 steel varies with the ranges of thickness.  The minimum percentage ranges for elongation is 33 to 40 minimum.

Applications of SAPH310: SAPH310 steel can be used for automobile structures in need of fine form-ability i.e. automobile frames and wheels, moreover SAPH310 steel can be used for cold-formed parts, for example main frame and other structure parts of automobile.  This grade SPH310 is appropriate for production of auto drive shaft tube, vehicle frame and cross beams.
