A 653/A 653M-05 Galvanized Extra Deep Drawing Cold Rolled EDDS Steel

What is EDDS Steel?  The American Standard for hot dip Galvanized Cold Rolled Materials A 653/A 653M-05 identifies extra deep drawing aluminum killed quality galvanized cold rolled hot dip galvanized steels with designation: EDDS steel. EDDS stands for ‘extra deep drawing quality steel’.  Extra Deep drawing steel EDDS steel is more draw-able than DDS type A & C steel. EDDS steel is for extra drawing sure stabilized steel whereas DDS type C is for deep drawing only.

The Chemical Composition: EDDS is composed of maximum 0.002 percent of Carbon, maximum 0.4 percent Manganese, maximum 0.02 percent Phosphorous, & maximum 0.02 percent Sulphur. Remaining is Iron with other impurities. Minimum percentage of Aluminum is 0.1 percent. Zinc is coated on this composition of base steel.

Mechanical Properties:

The yield strength ranges from 105 to 170 MPa of the above material designation. The elongation of these materials is greater than or equal to 40 percent.

The equivalent materials are defined in JIS standard as SGCD4 steel and International standard as 05 extra deep drawing steel.
